JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />TITLE: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />ACCOUNTABLE TO: COMMUNITY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE <br /> (1 member each from the Chamber of Commerce, <br /> Sauk Centre Opportunities & City Council) <br /> <br />I. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />To provide full-time professional services related to seeking new <br />businesses and retaining existing firms through planning and <br />development in order to promote economic.stability and growth in the <br />Sauk Centre area. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />2. Inasmuch as economic development is a cooperative effort between the <br /> Chamber of Commerce, Sauk Centre Opportunities and the City, the <br /> Economic Development D~ector will work closely with these entices via <br /> the Oversight Committee to receive d~ection and establish policy through <br /> regularly scheduled meetings. <br /> <br /> ? <br />'~UTiES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ' <br /> <br />1. Maintain and implement the goals set forth in the community's Star Ci~ <br /> One Year, Five Year and Industry Foliowup ~ - <br /> ~ ~an~. <br /> <br /> Research economic programs, grants, revolving funds and other fiscal <br />'tools and illustrate how these processes can apply v,~thin the Sauk Centre <br />area. This includes programs from the private sector as well as govern- <br />mental agencies on a county, regional, state and federal level needed to <br />accomplish principal or supplemental financing of various projects. <br /> <br />Attend Chamber of Commerce, Sauk Centre Opportunities and City <br />council meetings as requested, dealing with development issues. <br />Director should be capable of making verbal reports on currentact~v~ '.'+~.=: ..... <br /> <br />4. write relevant grant applica~ons when author~ed by the Oversight <br /> C ommitt e e. <br /> <br />5. Develop an activity file summarizing ~ prospecting and business <br /> contacts. <br /> <br />6. Provide admJa~istrative duties including budget preparation, approval of <br /> deparVHnental expenses and office management. <br /> <br />7. Cooperate with the public and media to generally promote awareness and <br /> interest in community, development. <br /> <br /> <br />
