PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A public hearing regarding Sealcoating Improvement Project #83-5 for Forest <br />Hideaway and Sealcoating Improvement Project #83-6 for Woodlawn Estates <br />was called to order by Mayor Gamec at 7:33 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 1983 <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> Councilmember Gary Reimann <br /> Councilmember Sue Van Wagner <br /> Councilmember Jean Schlueter <br /> Councilmember A1Sorteberg (arrived at 7:35 p.m.) <br /> <br />Also Present: City Engineer Raatikka <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka made a slide presentation of the proposed projects <br />and estimated costs. Mr. Raatikka also presented an alternative to seal- <br />coating, overlay. <br /> <br />Gary Albrecht - 16424 Okapi - Inquired how often the City plans to sealcoat. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied as needed and recommended by City Engineer, that the <br />City says every 3-5 years but generally it is required every 5-7 years. <br /> <br />Mr. Albrecht noted that Coon Rapids sealcoats on a 7 year cycle. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that Coon Rapids has more funds available for heavier <br />patching during the interim. <br /> <br />Don Burton - 8423 164th Lane - Stated that he does not feel sealcoating is <br />necessary at this time, that the road sustains very little traffic and is <br />in A-1 condition. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that there is exposed aggregate in the area. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that less traffic is worse for a street than heavier <br />traffic, that the street loses it's elasticity and the oil dries out. <br /> <br />Mr. Albrecht noted that there is large piece of property that is not being <br />assessed. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that that particular parcel accesses onto another road <br />and that party will be subject to assessments for improvements to the road <br />on which it accesses. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Van Wagner to <br />adjourn the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner.
