Absent: Councilmember Sorteberg. <br /> <br />Case #2: Requ_est For Wild Animal License: Case Of Mr. Tom Gu_v~r: <br /> <br />Ms. Norris reported that Planning and Zoning has recommended approval of <br />Mr. Guyer's request to keep to black bears on his property at 15408 Sunfish <br />Lake Blvd. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stated that approving the license would require granting <br />variances to minimum lot size, minimum distance between animal enclosure <br />and nearest neighboring residential structure and side yard setback for <br />animal enclosures. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox noted that unless there are intentions to grant variances <br />to the ordinance requirements for keeping wild animals, the minimum <br />setbacks are almost impossible to meet on a 2.5 acre lot and the ordinance <br />should be amended to either increase minimum lot size or decrease setbacks. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding the proposed secondary enclosure for the <br />animals and liability insurance. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember COx and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to adopt <br />Findings of Fact 0196, amended as follows, relating to Mr. Tom Guyer~s <br />request for a wild animal license: (Please refer to findings of fact file <br />for Findings of Fact 0196). <br /> <br />#23 should read: 'That the Applicant has taken steps to render the two <br />bears presently on the site harmless by declawing, neutering and <br />removing the canine teeth of the male bear and removing the front claws <br />of the female bear.' <br /> <br />Motion carried.
