Motion by Councilmsmber Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Cox to <br />adopt Resolution #88-72 receiving bids for Street Crack Filling Service <br />Project ~88-3 and to award the bid to Bergman Companies, Inc. (Please <br />refer to resolution file for Resolution #88-72). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Cox to add the <br />following MSA streets to Street Crack Filling Service Project ~88-3: <br /> <br />a) 153rd Avenue between Cty. Rd. #83 and P~na; <br />b) 153rd Avenue between Cty. Rd. #5 and Roanoke Street; <br />c) 167th Avenue between Cty. Rd. #5 and Hwy. #47; <br />d) 161st Avenue between Variolite Street and Cty. Rd. #83. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka reported that the City received one bid from J.T. Noonan at <br />$84,269.09 for the Park Maintenance Service Project 988-1. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that he feels the complexity of the bid spec <br />discouraged local landscape businesses from bidding. <br /> <br />Mr. Steve Gorecki was present and stated that the bid specs could be <br />streamlined to accommodate local contractors by reducing the insurability, <br />client reference and organizational data requirements. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Cox to <br />reject the bids for Park Maintenance Service Project ~88-1. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Cox stated that there should be some <br />reimbursement made to the bidders and potential bidders that spent a <br />considerable amount of time working with these park maintenance specs. <br />Mayor Reimann replied that the City does make mistakes but still has the <br />option to reject bids. Public Works Superintendent Mevissen noted that he <br />has provided Council with a cost estimate for performing park maintenance <br />duties in-house. Councilmember Cox stated that he has heard comments that <br />local contractors did not bid on the sewer and water maintenance service <br />project because of the spec complexity and requir~ents placed on bidders. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #12: Ap_pro~e Change _Order No. 1 To Water Tower Improvement Project <br /> ~87-19: <br /> <br />Motion by Councilm~mber Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Cox to <br />approve Change Order No. 1 to delete the overhead door for a deduction of <br />$20,150 and change the rise pipe from DIP to welded steel for a deduction <br />of $2,700 and authorize the City Administrator to sign the change order. <br /> <br />City Council/April 26, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 11 of 12 <br /> <br /> <br />
