PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOVA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 26, <br />1988 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Eeimann <br />Councilmember Arnie Cox <br />Councilmember Steve DeLuca <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Attorney WilliamC~odrich <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the regular City Council meeting to order at 8:12 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Barb Graen - 7321 150th Lane N.W. - Read the following statement on behalf <br />of the Ramsey Action Committee: "I have come tonight to talk about the <br />recent election. But first I'd like to take a minute to review the events <br />of the last 9 months: <br /> <br />1. August 25, 1987 - City Council votes unanimously to hold an <br /> advisory election on the issue of airport zoning. <br />2. Octoboer 13, 1987 - Council unanimously passes airport safety <br /> zoning. Mayor Reimann states that if the people want to vote on <br /> an issue, they should have to petition for that right. <br />3. November, 1987 - Petition submitted by Ramsey Action Committee <br /> found to be insufficient. <br />4. Dec~)er, 1987 - With a Christmas Eve deadline, Ramsey Action <br /> Committee submits updated petition with ample corrections. <br />5. January 12, 1987 - Council decides to have airport referendum <br /> election on April 19, 1988. Council~mber Cox suggests adding the <br /> issue of fire department to same ballot; Council unanimously <br /> agrees. <br />6. April 17, 1988 - Ramsey Action Committee is forced to remove all <br /> 'vote no' signs from all City, County or State property; being <br /> told that if said signs were not removed promptly, they would be <br /> removed and destroyedby City employees. When asked why others, <br /> such as realtors, have signs on most street corners, we were told <br /> that each case is treated individually.
