Minutes CASE #8: <br /> <br />REVIEW OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL SALARIES <br />By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The last increase in salaries for the City Council or Mayor was November of <br />1981 when the Council salary was increased from $1,800 to $3,000 per year and <br />the Mayor's salary was increased from $2,200 to $3,600 per year. On April 9, <br />1979, the City Council, by motion, approved a payment of $60 per month for <br />health and life insurance to the Mayor and Councilmembers. This amount has <br />been raiaed administratively to $140 per month over the past years. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your information is a survey of Metropolitan Communities' salaries <br />for Mayor and Councilmembers. On October 22, 1986 we called each of these <br />cities to confirm salaries and ask about the availability of any other <br />benefits. Also enclosed is an excerpt of the City Council meeting minutes of <br />April 9, 1979. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />If Council wishes t,o amend or modify the salaries paid to the Mayor and/or <br />Council, the appropriate ordinances must be introduced. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator <br />Attorney <br />Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />X <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br /> <br />
