Design challenge is to provide as much play value as possible while providing imaginative, and <br />creative theming (this may include landscape elements). Vendors design should be complimentary to <br />the surrounding environment, including existing park building and open spaces. An emphasis upon <br />dynamic play events promoting challenge, agility and coordination is encouraged for the 5-12 age <br />group and events and activities encouraging cognitive and imaginative play for the 2-5 age group are <br />requested. Provide as much unique activity for each age group as possible, limiting duplication of <br />activity. Emphasis for allocation of design budget should weight towards ages 5-12. Proposals should <br />include a narrative no longer than one page, detailing how the proposal meets or exceeds these design <br />expectations. A CAD file of the coordinates for the path and adjoining elevations is available upon <br />request. <br /> <br />: <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELMCREST PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT <br />1.Total project costs (including landscape and site improvements) should not exceed $90,000, <br />which will include the purchase of equipment, resilient surfacing materials (Engineered Wood <br /> surfacing containment border/seat wall/curb, shipping <br />costs and professional installation. For purposes of bidding this project, please provide a <br />separate quote for equipment, freight and materials and a separate quote for the installation <br />portion of the project. (Municipal units of government are exempt from Minnesota Sales Tax.) <br />Proposals that exceed $90,000 will not be considered by the city. <br /> <br />2.Appropriate drainage of the resilient surfacing area should be addressed in some manner. <br />Other areas of the site and landscape drainage shall be surface drainage. <br /> <br />3.Provide separate play structures and/or apparatus for ages 2-5 and 5-12 year old children. <br /> <br />4.Provide a single stand-alone sign providing required safety information by <br />if required <br />Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines, or your company (specify). <br /> <br />5.Provide a copy of warranty information for all proposed equipment and a statement from the <br />manufacturer that all equipment proposed meets ASTM and CPSC standards and guidelines. <br /> <br />6.All posts and all climbers, and static fabrications shall be powder coated metal and all decks <br />-12 and minimum of <br />-5. Posts may be either aluminum or steel. All hand rails, loops and <br />graspable rails shall be powder coated steel. <br /> <br />7.Play equipment design proposal must meet all applicable ADAAG requirements for public <br />playgrounds and a statement from the manufacturer stating compliance for the specific design <br />proposed is required. <br /> <br />
