PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA CO3NTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A regular meeting of' the Ramsey City Council was held on Monday, <br />September 10, 1984 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen <br />Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Tom Gamec <br /> Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br /> Councilmember Sue Van Wagner <br /> Councilmember Gary Reimann <br /> Councilmember Jean Schlueter <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />City Attorney Willi~ Goodrich <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br />City Building Official Clayton Berg <br />Reporter Angela Flint <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and led in <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mayor Gamec explained that <br />the Council meeting is being held on a Monday because of the <br />Primary Elections scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, 1984. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Douglas Fountain - 15255 Garnet ST. N.W. - Proceeded to read <br />excerpts fr~ ~e foll~ing ~stCouncil minutes: <br /> <br />April 23, 1979 - "Sue Van Wagner approached the City Council <br />and presented several pictures of different dates when <br />debris was blown into adjacent yards." (These minutes also <br />note that several other citizens registered complaints <br />regarding the landfill and it's operation.) "Councilman Cox <br />addressed the group of concerned citizens stating that the <br />Attorney, Engineer and other members of the Council all have <br />different attitudes but certainly share their feelings and <br />understand the problem with much greater insite and realize <br />the seriousness of this situation. It is a whole lot <br />different now than it was back in 1967. The people in this <br />community at that time signed petitions to keep the landfill <br />out only to find out that because this was a Township it had <br />no authority and could do nothing to keep the landfill out. <br />He said he was one of the original petitioners on the Town <br />Board for this Township to become a City and for this very <br />reason." "Mayor Gamec reported that he received complaints <br />by phone on the llth and went out and talked to people in <br />area.
