Mr. Schnelle
recommended that Ramsey participate in the study.

Council consensus was to dispense with the reading of the proposed resolution.

Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Schlueter to
adopt Resolution #84-233 to approve of participating in the MAMA Joint
Compensation Study regarding "Comparable Worth Act". (Please refer to
resolution file for Resolution #84-233 ).

Further Discussion: Councilmember Reimann inquired as to the consequences if
Ramsey does not participate in the study. Mr. Goodrich replied that it is to
the City's benefit to participate in the study; not participating could open
Ramsey up to lawsuits and substantial liabilities. Councilmember Reimann
suggested that Ramsey prepare it's own study. Mr. Berg stated that it has
been recommended that cities not prepare their own study; that the study would
be considered biased. Mr. Schnelle reaffirmed that the cap on the cost of the
study is $5,000. Councilmember Van Wagner amended the motion to include that
Ramsey's proportionate share of the cost of the study not exceed $5,000°
Councilmember Schlueter seconded the amendment to the motion.
