Motion carried. <br /> <br />c) Adoption Of Ordinance ~84-17 - <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to <br />dispense with the reading of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilm~mbers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to <br />adopt Ordinance #84-17 which is an ordinance amending Section 210.01.5 of the <br />Ramsey City Code. Tnis ordinance is to be published in the Anoka County Union <br />and will take effect 30 days after the date of publication. (Please refer to <br />ordinance file for Ordinance #84-17). <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called for a roll call vote. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg - Aye <br />Councilemmber Van Wagner - Aye <br />Mayor Gamec - Aye <br />Councilmember Reimann - Aye <br />Councilmember Schlueter - Aye <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. (continued discussion regarding hiring Mr. James Way at a starting salary <br />of 79% of top patrol pay). <br /> <br />Councilmember Van Wagner read certain portions of the police contract and <br />stated that if Ramsey hires patrolmen, they are covered under this contract <br />and deviating from the contract would require the City to come up with a new <br />classification and submit it to the bureau of mediation. Councilmember Van <br />Wagner stated that the contract also includes a 1 year probationary period. <br />Councilmember Van Wagner stated that the contract also says that wages payable <br />for a patrolman the first year of employment is $22,145.00 <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann noted that according to Mr. Way's application, he is not <br />licensed. <br /> <br />Chief Auspos stated that part of the criteria for obtaining licenses, is <br />naming place of employment; patrolmen must be employed to qualify for <br />licenses. Chief Auspos stated that 79% of top patrol pay is the minimum wage <br />the City can use for hiring purposes. <br /> <br />December 18, 1984 <br /> Page 7 of 21 <br /> <br /> <br />
