Case #1 <br /> <br />1993 BUDGET COMMITTEE ORGANIZATION <br /> By: Sandra Ashley Belling, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the regular Council meeting of ~}anuarv 12. 1993, all fivc members of the City Council were appointed <br />to the Budget Committee for 1993. As ti{is is the first Budget Committee meeting of 1993. the first item <br />of business is to appoint a Budgct Chair and Vice-Chair. In addition, the Council may want to consider <br />changing the name of this standing commtuee from Budget to me Finance Comrmuee. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Prior to 1991. the Council's Budget Committee was charged with reviewing staffs budget requests and <br />making recommendaUons regarding the City's budget and levy. The Committee generally met two or <br />three rimes prior to the Council adopting the budget and levv for the following year, Other matters of <br />finance, including addiuonal budgetary consideraUons or amendments, were brought directly to me City <br />Council by staff. <br /> <br />Since 1991 the Budget Committee has held regular meetings throughout the year. During these meetings <br />the Committee reviews the City's current financial standing as compared to budget, requests for capital <br />outlay, requests for funds not specifically included in the current year budget, issues as related to bonding <br />and all other financial matters that may arise. <br /> <br />Due to the expanded role of the Budget Committee, changing the name to the Finance Committee would <br />more accurately describe the Committee's role. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Appoinl a Chair and Vice-Chair. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />Recommend/not recommend the Ramsey City Council change the name of this standing committee to the <br />Hnance Committee. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br />City Admmistrator <br /> <br />BC: 01,~6,r9'~ <br /> <br /> <br />
