Description <br /> <br />Condition ~heck one Check <br />__ lair ~ unc×po~ed <br /> <br />~,escribe th~ pre~er, t ~nd original {if known) physics; app~rar~ce <br /> <br /> The kamsey %o~n Hall, constructed zn 1892 a~ a s!nFie-room school house, is <br />located on S~. Franci~ Boulevard, t~o m/les north of Anoka. <br /> <br /> This simple, rectangular-shaped building is constructed of buff colored brick, <br />presumably manufactured at ~-h~ Kelsev Er~ckyard. The lo~' pitched gable roof is <br />covered ~'ith asphalt shingles. (It is assumed that wood shingles originally covered <br />the roof. ) <br /> <br /> The front facade of the building, which ~=aces on St. Tran~is Boulevard, is com- <br />oosed of z centrally t~,cated doorway with flaunting win~iowa. The original door frame, <br />which is partially block-in %'ith pi>~wood, was composed of a pair of doors. Decorative <br />brick arches cap ~he door and windows. This decorative brickwork is repeated around a <br />circular opening directly above the front entry. The north and south facades of the <br />building con~ain thr~e ~,indo~s~:.each capped u'ith decorative segmental brick arches. <br />The west, or rear, facade of thc building is composed of an exterior brick chimney <br />flanked by two large windows. These windows, ~,,hich have been filled-in with asphalt <br />brick, are also capped with decorative segmental brick arches. A concrete belt soursa, <br />presumably installed to prevent water damage to the building, is not original. <br /> <br /> The in=erior of the building contains an en=_'-y hall, one large classroom, two <br />cioai; rooms (one cloak room has bean converted in~o a kitchen), and a s=airway :o a <br />~arn!a! basement (c-~-~',~~'' - small ciose:~. The ciassrocm has a ~-essed metal <br />ceiling and a number of original chalk bozrd~, now pain, ed ye!lo~'o The in~erior walls <br />c_-' =he classroom have been covered ~'ith _~D=:' er board. <br /> <br /> A cornel:tee of the Anoka County L'~ - <br /> .._s~oricai Society is currenuiv conducting ex- <br />tensive research in preparation for the restora=ion of the building. <br /> <br /> <br />
