This building
represents the bes~ preserved nineteenth century rural pub.tic-~building, in P~noka Dou~ry.

Architecturally, the building represents one of a handful of brick buildings
constructed in the county. Its proximity to :he Kelsey Brickyard, which manufactured
high quality, buff-colored brick from 1880 to 1897, indicates that ~he school was
constructed of Kelsey brick. It is additionally significant for the excellence of
its craftsmanship and desai!ing.

The acouisition of this building by the county, and its imminent res:oration by
the Anoka Coun:y Historical Society, insures its ~uture use by the public.

NOTE: The manuscript for this nomination wa's prepared before the one paragraph
limit for significance statements was stipulated.
