March 22, 1993
Mr. Jon Olson

include either an on-road surface or off-road walk/bikeway. I am curious, however, why the
project does not include a better connection at C.S.A.H. #5 in that this roadway serves as the only
crosstown arterial north of 153rd Avenue N.W. I would think that safety could be improved
dramatically by realigning that portion of the roadway between Trunk Highway #47 and C.S.A.H.
#5.

Jon, recently the City Council authorized funding to revisit our transportation plan pursuant to
Metropolitan Council desires. We have suggested to the City of Andover that we would be in
favor of a joint Andover and Ramsey Transportation Plan update. It would be helpful to know
what your level of interest is in such a project and at what stage Anoka County would be interested
in participating in such a project. We expect that, regardless of participation by Andover, any other
community or Anoka County, we will be initiating this project by July 1, 1993 and hope to
experience substantial completion by the end of the year. It would certainly be beneficial to the"
planning process and to the eventual document, however, to receive your input and to be able to
react to the desires of the County Highway Department and the County Board.

Please feel free to contact either Steve Jankowski or me with your thoughts on this subject. Thank
you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Ryan R.
