Mr. Brown stated that Danny's <br />operation is a full-fledged scrap yard and that he buys and sells steel regularly. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated she wrote a letter to Dan Karst outlining his options. <br />She stated she has been in touch with the Pollution Control Agency regarding testing and <br />they stated his volume of business doesn't warrant testing. <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbertson stated that the City will make Danny's Aluminum Processing a priority <br />item and something will be done. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if there have been any complaints against Danny's <br />Aluminum to which Ms. Frolik replied there have not. <br /> <br />Sharon Dahlgren, 6328 - 143rd Lane N.W., Ramsey - stated that even at 5:00 a.m., the <br />smoke from Danny's Aluminum is black and has a bad smell. <br /> <br />City Administrator Sehroeder stated that the Economic Development Commission is <br />attempting to pull together meetings to work on issues such as this one and to see what can <br />be done to rectify the situation. <br /> <br />Jerry Martin, business owner in Gateway Industrial Park, stated it is apparent that Danny's <br />Aluminum Processing, Inc. has been operating against it's conditional use permit. There <br />have been no improvements, in fact, it appears to have gotten worse. The road is being <br />used like it is their own private property. He stated he's heard Danny make promises but <br />nothing gets done and the City Council hasn't acted either. He stated he can't bring <br />clientele to his place of business because his credibility drops when they see the condition <br />of the area. He asked City Council to do something. He feels Danny won't do anything <br /> called and asked him what to <br />until his back is against the wall. He stated that Danny . him <br />do so he told him to put up some type of screening but nothing has been done. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik stated that in accordance with City Code, priOr; to scheduling a public hearing to <br />consider conditional use permit revocation, the City needs to do an inspection, make a list <br />of items that must be con'ected and give Mr. Karst 30 days to correct his violations. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gilbenson and seconded by Councilmember Hardin to begin the process <br />to consider revocation of the conditional use permit for Danny's Aluminum Processing, <br />Inc. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Hardin and Zimmerman. <br />Voting No: None.
