Is he interested in what you have to contribute to the organization? Do you
feel that his door is open when you need to speak with him? Do you think
he is fair? Does he encourage you to improve in your job?

I believe so. It has been so far. Not to the degree that he could or should be. Definitely.

Ryan's door is always open and he is a good listener. He is very straight forward, speaks
directly to the issues and encourages staff to do the same. I personally perform better in this
environment of openness. Ryan's concern is for the organization as a whole, and this
leads to fairness. We are all encouraged to seek better ways to do things.

A direct yes to the fa'st three. As to the last one, he has not directly spoken with me in this
regard but by his actions vis-a-vis my administrative duties I have, in my opinion,
improved simply as a necessity.

I feel he could take a more active role with our department (interest). Yes. On some issues
his personal opinion definitely influence his actions. A more open-minded attitude while
discussion issues would be best. Yes, but more knowledge of our department would help.

Yes, and asks for my thoughts in other areas as well. He allows a person to be a "free
thinker" encouraging ideas without making a person feel foolish about their contribution.
His door is always open no matter how busy he is and I feel that I could talk with Ryan
about virtually anything - personal or otherwise. He strives to be fair and I feel he does a
good job at achieving same. He always encourages improvement in me as a person and my
position.

I believe that only those individuals reporting directly to the City Administrator can
objectively address these questions and since I do not, I will not directly address them.
However, if my immediate supervisor were not available I would not hesitate to bring any
problem requiring immediate supervisory attention to Ryan.

Yes. Yes. Relatively. Definitely. More effort could be made to interact with employees
not accustom to his style. For example, Ryan could say to employees not used to his style,
"What can I do as City Administrator to assist you with your job?"
