CASE # 7 <br /> <br />REVIEW RECYCLING CONTRACT RENEWAL <br /> By: James Gromberg, Project Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As you are aware, the City's contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. for the curbside recycling <br />program expired on June 30, 1993. At their meeting of June 22, 1993, Council directed <br />Staff to contact ACE with regard to the extension of the current service on a month to <br />month basis because the City may be considering a change in which the refuse and <br />recycling services are provided to the residents of the City. <br /> <br />I spoke with Mr. Andy Schweizer from ACE and he was not in full agreement with a <br />month to month contract. However, he was willing to provide the recycling service under <br />a six (6) month contract that allows the City to terminate the contract should the City decide <br />to change the delivery system for solid waste programs. The contract is enclosed for your <br />review. <br /> <br />Thc City will be conducting a meeting with the licensed haulers to discuss the future of the <br />solid waste delivery system. That meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July <br />21, 1993 in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends confiauing the current program and approving the contract with ACE for <br />a period of six (6) months until December 31, 1993. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Based upon discussion. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: Copies also distributed to: <br /> <br />Project Manager City Administrator <br /> Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 07/13/93 <br /> <br /> <br />
