Memorandum

To:

From:

Date:

RE:

Ryan Schroeder, City Administmtof,~ 1
James Gromberg, Project Manage~/~!.'

July 2, 1993

City-wide Curbside Recycling Program

The City's contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. (ACE) for the curbside recycling program
expired on June 30, 1993. As the City Council directed at the June 22, 1993 meeting, I
have contacted ACE with regard to the extension of the current service on a month to month
basis. The request for the month to month contract was requested as the City may be
considering a change in which refuse and recycling services are provided to the residents of
the City.

Andy Schwieizer from ACE was not in full agreement with a month to month contract.
However, he was willing to provide the recycling service under a six (6) month contract
that allows the City to terminate the contract (attached) should the City decide to change the
delivery system for solid waste programs (Section 14).

It would be my recommendation to continue the current program and approve the contract
with ACE for a period of six (6) months until December 31, 1993. The City will be
conducting a meeting with the licensed haulers to discuss the future of the solid waste
delivery system.
