<br />GENERAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THE CITY
<br />
<br />The City of Ramsey is located in Anoka County and is a northwestern suburb of the
<br />Minneapolis/Saint Paul metropolitan area. The Mississippi River forms the City's southern
<br />border and the Rum River forms the City's eastern border. The City encompasses an area of
<br />approximately 28.8 square miles (18,449 acres) and has a 1992 population of 13,269 as
<br />estimated by the Metropolitan Council. This represents a 6.9% increase over the 1990 U.S.
<br />Census figure of 12,408. The 1990 U.S. Census population count of 12,408 represents a 23%
<br />increase over the City's 1980 U.S. Census count of 10,093. The City's most rapid increase in
<br />population occurred from 1970 to 1980 when the City's population grew over 300% from 2,360
<br />to 10,093.
<br />
<br />The City is primarily residential in character with over 60% of its taxable net tax capacity value
<br />consisting of homestead and non-homestead residential property. Employment opportunities
<br />for Ramsey residents are available within the City as well as throughout the metropolitan area.
