PART I - COMMUNITY ROADSIDE LANDSCAPING PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM <br /> <br />PROGRAM DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The Minnesota Community Roadside Landscaping Partnership Progran't is designed to provide <br />technical and financial assistance to communities that are interested in landscaping state highwa2,, fights <br />of wa2,'. The program has two goals: (1) roadside enhancement and (2) community improvement. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />This manual describes the program and application requirements, and provides examples of documents <br />required. Part One is the general program description. Part Two contains the application form and the <br />instructions to complete the form. Part Three contains appendices that provide examples of resolutions, <br />letters of support, agreements and other information pertinent to the application requirements. <br />Completed applications may be submitted to Mn/DOT for consideration at any time of the year. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />If you have any questions about the program or application requirements, please call (612)296-5772 to <br />speak with Mn/DOT Landscape Unit Staff or cai1 your Mn/DOT district office identified in Appendix <br />III. <br /> <br />APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY <br /> <br />For purposes of this program, communities are defined as counties and home rule charters, statutory <br />cities or towns. Ineligible applicants will not be considered unless they are sponsored by a community <br />or unit of government. If you would like additional information about possible partnerships outside <br />the eligibility requirements of this community partnership program, please call the Mn/DOT <br />Landscape Unit or your Mn/DOT district office. <br /> <br />I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> i <br /> I <br /> <br />ELIGIBLE COMPONENTS <br /> <br />Funds awarded under this program must be used for roadside landscaping.. All improvements eligible <br />for program funds must be located on state trunk highway rights of way with fee or easement tide. Many <br />areas of interstate freeways are excluded from this program. Components that would meet the goals. <br />of the program include, but are not limited to, the following: ....... . .'., .' .: ..~' : - : ...: .... <br /> <br />providing and establishing trees, shrubs, vines, perennial groundcovers; wildflowers and grasses,: ...... <br />incorporating soil amendments, herbicides, edging,_raised :planters, weed ._ fabric, wood fiber.. <br />blanket, mulch, rodent protection, staking and guying, etc <br /> <br />PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS <br />Project components must stipport one of the two goals of the program (roads[de enhancement and <br />community improvement.) <br /> <br />In the formative stages of the project, the applicant must form and designate a committee of at least three <br />contact persons for the project. The designated individuals on the committee would then be responsible <br />for overall project coordination prior to and during the submission of the application as well as during <br />implementation of the program after the project is awarded.
