PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA ~OUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a continuation of the <br />June 7, 1988 public hearing on Thursday, June 16, 1988 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Ncwthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding <br />Atlas Incinerator, Inc. 's request for a conditional use per~it to construct <br />and o~rate contract incinerators in the research portion of their <br />o~eration. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman <br />Mr. Jim Howell <br />Mr. Michael Terry <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Jim Holm <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br />City AttorneyWilliamGoodrich <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Roy Shumway <br />Mr. Charles LaDue <br /> <br />Chaimoan Zimmerman called the continuation of the public .hearing to order <br />at 8:54 p.m. <br /> <br /> TZ EN,,Z OT <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman and City Attorney Goodrich noted receiving letters from <br />Beverly Bilbin (see Attachment A), Kay McCulley (see Attachment B) and <br />Jacqueline Eastwood (see Attachment C). <br /> <br />Carol Brash - 5440 156th Lane - Inquired as to how many Ramsey residents <br />Atlas would be hiring right away and the proposed wage scale. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Labat- Atlas Incinerators - Stated that Atlas has received <br />several job applications from P~msey residents; some of the applicants have <br />already been interviewed. Atlas intends to hire one or two additional <br />employees within one week and plans to hire 6 to 12 persons within 60 days <br />and another 6 to 10 persons shortly after the first of the year. Beginning <br />wage scale is about $14,000/year for clerical and $7.00/hour in the plant. <br />Mr. Labat stated that Atlas needs skilled people and doesn't hire at <br />minimum wage because it creates too much of a turn over in personnel. <br /> <br />John Heinen - 6370 143rd Lane - Stated that he has met with representatives <br />of Atlas and he believes it is a good company that is needed in Ramsey. <br />Mr. Heinen also noted that Hunter's Hill was developed first and Atlas is <br /> Planning & Zoning Public Hearing/June 16, 1988 <br /> <br /> <br />
