DAVE SCHULTE FOR PARK DEDICATION REQUIREMENTS
By: Community Development Director Anne Norris

Background:

As you recall, at your December 10th meeting the Commission reviewed sketch
plans proposed by Mr. John Rambosek, Mr. Dale Voltin and Mr. Dave Schulte.
At that time, the Commission commented that they would like a chance to
walk the property, but also noted that they anticipated their
recommendation would be to acquire property along the ditch to satisfy the
City's park dedication requirements.

Since that time, Merland Otto has reviewed the property and has suggested
several possibilities for land to be acquired through the park dedication
process.

For your information, enclosed are the following items:

a) Site location map
b) Mr. Rambosek's proposed sketch plan
c) Mr. Voltin and Mr. Schulte's proposed sketch plan
d) Proposed alignments for dedicating land along the ditch
e) Ramsey Resolution #83-13 regarding park dedication requirements

Observations:

Section 170.06 of the City Code states that up to 8% of the gross area in a
new subdivision may be required to be dedicated for public use such as
parks, playgrounds and open space. However, if it is found that no open
area is required for storm water holding/ponding areas, the City may
require up to 10% of the gross area be dedicated for public use such as
parks, playgrounds and open space.

Recommendation:

Commission Action:

Motion to:
Recommend that the City Council require
and/or land) to satisfy the City's park dedication requirements.

(fee

Review Checklist:

Administrator
Attorney
Engineer
Community Development Director

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Superintendent
Other
