P~ge 2

CASE 2: Discussion resar~in8 vacancy on Park Commission

Commission noted that two applications had been received for the vacancy on
the Park Commission, from Steve Schiminski, who has just recently built in
Ramsey, and from Roy Shumway, who is with the Trailriders, and is also
on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Discussion followed on whether or
not someone could be on two commissions.

Chairman Lichter said Roy Shumway is strong for horse trails, has coached
baseball and hockey, and has lived in Ramsey for some time. Steve Schiminski
is new to the city. Chairman Lichter favored Roy Shumway for the position
because his qualifications are better. Claudia Dodge noted the Council wants
interviews done, discussion followed on whether or not they had interviewed in
the past. Chairman Lichter said they used to interview.

Commissioner Looyen made the motion to schedule interviews, seconded by
Commissioner Hetland, and motion passed. Commission requests City staff to
schedule interviews at 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the next Park Commission
meeting.

CASE 3: ~eview pr0~osed plat of Stgnhppe River Hills regarding park
dedication requirements.

Commission reviewed plat of Outlot A, along the river. Chairman Lichter noted
the area is real steep, a 50-60 ft. drop from the top to the river. The
other choice is to go north in the property. Chairman Lichter expressed
concern that there was no street access, only a 10 ft. easement,~and if the
lot is accepted they would insist on street access or a full widgh easement
to the street.

Motion by Commissioner Hetland, seconded by Commissioner Looyen, to accept
the land with the exception of having access off 153rd Lane NW. Motion passed.

PARK COMMISSION INPUT:

Chairman Lichter was not aware that police would close a park if there are a
lot of complaints of neighbors. City Council had passed a motion to close
Brookview Park. Claudia Dodge asked what it would mean to the summer park
program. Chairman Lichter did not know.

Motion by Chairman Lichter, seconded by Commissioner Looyen, to ask the City
Council to take whatever steps are necessary but to keep the park open with
enforcement.

Claudia Dodge asked if there are any commissions represented on the City
budget development committee, and if not, they should have a park board
member on the committee. Dodge asked if someone could represent the Park Board
on the Committee if it had not started yet. Consensus of Park Commission to have
the City staff notify the Park Commission so they can have input in the budget
planning. Contact Ron Hetland for this. Dodge would like to represent Community
School because it could be affected. Chairman Lichtar made the motion to
recommend support at or above the current funding level for Community School,
out of the budget for the Park Board, seconded by Commissioner Looyen. Motion
passed.
