Cage 3

Claudia Dodge asked who is RYAA contact person, discussion indicated it is
different for each sport. RYAA meets the third Sunday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Dodge said the Ramsey Community Education advisory council disbanded last spring,
and will begin again with different representation. She asked for a representative
of the Park Board, meeting one Tuesday evening per month. Commissioner Looyen
volunteered, Chairman Lichter volunteered to be the second contact person.

Claudia Dodge asked the Commission members if they knew why she attended the
meetings, and then explained the background. A Community Ed Task Force was
formed to study Community Education in Ramsey and one of the recommendations
was that gommunity Education would provide clerical services to the Park
Commission to save the City money. So the Community Education secretary takes
the minutes at the meetings. Ms. Dodge is a resource person, for grants
and planning, but she can't be a voting member. She then explained the
Summer Park program and asked for input on how to improve it. She said some
parks have no kids left in the area, and some, Titterud, Central, Brookview
and the school have a lot of use. She said that in the future other parks
will be used as Deeded.

Commissioner Looyen asked about the Teen Center. The plan for the Teen Center
is to have it open every Thursday night, alternating between grades 5 and 6, and
grades 7- 8, and 9. The first meeting is scheduled for October 9, it will be
a joint meeting to plan events. An invitation was extended to the Commission
members to visit the teen center, which is newly painted. Halloween parties
are also planned on October 23 and October 30. Teens will be contacted by
mailings. A supervisor is needed for the Center. Attendance varies, last
year one dance had over 200 attend, 80 at one dance, and 120 at another dance.
Attendance at the Center ranged from 1 to 35, and the reason that the activities
have been changed to Thursday is because Fridays conflict with school events.
Hours have not been decided, maybe 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. The supervisor will ideally
be someone 20-21 years of age, someone that the teens can relate to.

Chairman Lichter encouraged Claudia Dodge's input at the meetings.

Chairman Lichter encouraged Claudia Dodge's input at the meetings.

Meetinz adjourned at 8:24 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Debbie Fiebet~orn
Secretary
Ramsey Community School
