Mr. Schnelle stated that because o~f the amount involved~ price quotes would <br />have to be secured. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg <br />to secure price quotes for some used equipment for Road and Bridge and <br />Park Department. Further, that said quotes will be opened on July 12, <br />1982 at 11:00 A.M. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Cox stated that goi.ng for price quotes <br />is just a lot of bookwork and inquired if Mr. Chapman's asking price for <br />the tractor is fair. Merle Mevisson replied that Ct is a fair price <br />considering all the equipment that comes with the tractor. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Counci!members Sorteberg~ Cox, <br />Reimann and Van Wagner. Voting No: None, <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle continued to review his Staff Report with the'Council. <br /> <br />b) Building Official <br /> <br />Mr. Berg reviewed his report with Council at this time. <br /> <br />Council then acted on Case #2 of Council New Business; Case of Mr. Leo <br />Deschenes. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec explained to Mr, Deschenes that the City realizes that he does <br />fine work, but that City requirements regarding permits and inspections <br />must be followed in order that the City can keep control of sewer and <br />septic systems. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox to allow Mr. Deschenes to continue his line <br />of work as long as he works within the City requirements, <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated that he would like to hear Mr. Deschenes <br />reasons for not getting permits and calling for inspections. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox withholds his motion temporarily. <br /> <br />Mr. Deschenes stated that, in answer to a call from the owner at 5030 <br />179th Lane NW, he uncovered the drainfield only to see if it was in need <br />of repair. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the City realizes that emergencies do arise, but <br />the area should be left uncovered until such time as an inspection can be <br />performed. <br /> <br />Counci!member Cox stated that the reason for permits and inspection is to <br />avoid conflict between the City and the homeowner after the contractor has <br />left. He further stated that all the City is requesting is that Mr. <br />Deschenes comply with City requirements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg seconds the motion on the floor, <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Reimann reiterated to Mr. Deschenes that <br />he or the homeowner is required to apply for a permit before work starts. <br /> <br />C/June 22, 1982 <br /> Page 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
