Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Cox and Van Wagner. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Merle Mevissen requested the addition of one more full time man to street <br />maintenance crew. He stated that there is a lot of work not getting done <br />such as crack filling and culvert cleaning. He further stated that in the <br />near future a full time crew will be required to contend with crack filling. <br />He also stated that next year the Ramsey maintenance crew will also be <br />responsible for mowing the parks. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann suggested hiring two full-time men for the summer months, <br />and laying them off in the winter months to save money. <br /> <br />Mr. Mevissen stated that he would rather hire one full-time man year around. <br />That way he would have a driver for all trucks and would not have to waste <br />so much time training in part-time persons. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that if Council goes with hiring in the summer and laying <br />off in the winter, City would have to pay unemployment. He further stated <br />that he sees Mr. Mevissen's need for another man and he also hates to see <br />City costs go up, that Council has to be careful how much of a workload they <br />put on Mr. Mevissen's crew. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he has no problem with the idea of hiring another full <br />time man for Mr. Mevissen's crew. <br /> <br />Council consensus is to have Personnel Committee review Mr. Mevissen's request. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimman and seconded by Councilmember Van Wagner to <br />adjourn the special Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
