G~OW & RAI~E¥ TOWNSHIPS ¢OMBINF. D MEETING
~ay 30, 1974

The hearing was called ~o order at 8=15 p.m. by the Grow Town-
ship Chairman, Mr. Schneider. Present were Mr. Holasek, Mr.
Cox, Mr. Hoppers~, Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Oliphant, Mr. Good~lch, and
Mr. Jaworukt.

The minutes of tho combined meeting held on May 21st were read by
Mr. Schneider. It was explained ~o those present in the audience
that th~s hearing was held because the MMC wants the Rum River as
the boundary line between Grow and Ramsey Townships. It was also
explained that the mill leFles of Grow, ~_.m_~sy, and Anoka are as
follows I

· , .1973
Grow 2.27
~amsey 1.91
Anoka 23.28

Mr. Cox stated that a decision should be made on this issue to-

night. He also explained many of the problems. Mrs. Dorothy
Bridges had written a letter for this hearing. Mr. Weins asked
question about future plans, assessments, sewer plans, etc. The
people who are now livin~ in this area that would be shifted to
Grow expressed much hesitancy about this problem because they do
not know how the people in Grow think about these matters.** It
was stated that there 'are no plans as yet for sewer in this area.
The only contact with Grow has been the maintenance of roads and
that has left a lot to be desired, they said. They.hope some-
thing would be done ~o maintain the roads. Mr. Holasek stated
Grow has not been eli~Lble for any State aid for roads to date.
Hopefully, if they are incorporated, the road maintenance would
be better. He stated that as it is in ~amsey,'the will of the
people ruled. He does not like the philosophy of anyone who thinks
the Board should make the decisions regardless of what the public
wants.

M~ke Gieseke: He asked about the meeting they had wtth Ramsey
about the roads in the Russell Addition. Mr. Goodrich stated that
whatever agreement is reached in any contracts, they would be taken
care of,

Glen Rogers: Lives in the Russell Addition, He asked if the County
had a long range plan for a bridge crossing, He was told the County
had a thoroughfare plan and there was a bridge in this plan, The
bridge they had on. their plan was going east from Industry Avenue
and would come across about at Kemp's store, Ramsey Town Board had

expressed serious obJection~ to this location, They feel that at
Highway junction of #5 and #4? the ground ms high and that a bridge
at this point would be a much better location,
