SPECIAL MEETIN6 OF THE 'P~MSEY TOWN BOARD <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Cha/rman., Mr. Cox, at <br />?=30 p.m. Present. were Mr. Hopperstad, Mr.' Murphy, Mr. Nelson,- <br />and Mrs. Oliphant. <br /> <br />Mr. Bernie Stephens was there to present to the board an outline <br />of what he felt he could do for the board on matters he thinks <br /> <br />will be coming up in the nea~ futures. At-approximately ~O bourns <br />per month, he would charge $25.00 per hour. On a 'Job.basis, 'he <br />would charge $~O.00 per hour., He would be de~ing ~ith grants', <br />systems of fee.s_, an .analysis of what we are going'to do-about <br />police protect~,~budgetin~, maaagement, etc., so we can. make quick <br />decisions ~hen we. have to. Each Board. member was ~tven ~an out- <br />line and theF'must decide how much time.they want him to spend <br />for us. He Believes-we should have a form of government whic h <br />keeps in touch w~th the people. <br /> <br />Mr. ~nderson of Anderson & Sons of Pr~nc'eton was here w~th a quo- <br />tation on renting a loader. Mr. Hopperstad explained the effort <br />that had been put ~nto an attempt to find a used loader. They <br /> ust not available and a new one cannot be delivered until <br />all are <br /> , if then, and would be very' expensive. Andersons have a used <br />loader of the size and type which .we need. It is a 75 series 3 <br />1967 H~e~h~,g~r loader-with a diesel engine, in good condition.. T~.e <br />rentaI, would be $2~5OO per month with the Township to do the main- <br />tenance and carry liability ins~u~_ance for the Township 'and Ander- <br />son Bros. $13,5OO is the cost of th~s .loader-.. The rubber <br />cellent. The capacity is 1 3/~ yard Bucket. He left .the .contract <br />with us. <br /> <br />Mr. Chapman. of Nason, Wehrman., Chapman & .Associates was present to <br />explain what they felt they could d° for the TOwns. hip in the way <br />of planmtng. They have been in the business:for 65-years. Their <br />office is in Golden Valley.' They 'would try to help us do the plan- <br />ning for our future growth. They now do some work for Anoka, Arden <br />Hills, New Brighton, etc. Last year' Arden Hills fee was over <br />$10,O00. _They charge $2?.50 per hour as a..rule. It runs to <br />$500 or <br /> $600 per month. Prim_~rily they a_~e a land lanntn~ company. <br />Mr. Chapman is an urban planner, himself. We t him for coming. <br /> <br />Mr. Ernie Larsen: He sa~d he has been assessing.lin over ~00 homes <br />since last year, He said with a few minor objections, everyone <br />else is very happy with Ramsey To~nskntp. The .miL1 rate for the <br />Township haa..¢ome .up, very definitely, from 1..9 to 5.97. Mr.. Bob <br /> <br />Johnson was very d/rectly responsibl® in raising/this mill rate <br />for our Township. Mr. Larsen brought a letter aboUt the..1975 real <br /> <br />property assessing. He explained the assessment program for this <br />coming year. He g~ves three alternatives. Hr. Larsen may be .~n <br />Arabia by July 15, 197~. He will know by June 17th whether or not <br />he will be able to do the assessing for us for 1975' When he <br />started assessing three years ago, we had ~ tax books. Now there <br />are 28 books. In 197~ he spent over 500 hours on assessing. In <br />1975, to meet the state requirements., it .will take 1000 hours.' <br />July 1st is the beginning of' the fiscal .year. We will wait until <br />Hr. Larsen lets us know whether he will be able to do our assessing. <br /> <br /> <br />
