Mr. Cox asked Mr. Auspos to elaborate on the two programs of Op-
eration Identification and Hue and Cry. Anoka has a $300,000
budget and 26 policemen and you can get robbed 21 times in 3
years. Mr. Cox said if the people are not going to cooperate
there is no use in hiring another policeman. Mr. Auspos explained
the Operation Zdentification program. Whispering Pines Addition
people have gotten together and distributed a sheet on each block
to all the residents and they are watching. If people are inter-
ested in having such a program, call Mr. Auspos and he will be
glad to help set it up.

Mr. Cox's home was broken into thru the rear basement window. The
thieves knew they were safe because they knew that he was gone.
He had his items listed and marked by the Operation Identification
program. The police found one of his guns in deer season in Cass
County and they found his deer rifle. Without identification marks
you cannot identify your belongings.

Gopher feet: The County has passed a 15¢ per gopher rate. Last
Year they paid 10~ per gopher. Mr. Martin Gorham said we are sup-
posed to match the County price. We paid out about $300 for gopher
feet this past year. Some children have been taking them to our
Township from outside because they get more money than they do
in their own township. Mr. Leverenz moved we pay 30¢ a pair for
gopher feet. Seconded by Mr. Robert Muller. Motion carried.

Parks: We have more than 15 acres of swamp now and we have some
fine dry land coming into our park system also. We have an area
of about ~O acres in the northwestern corner of the Township com-
ing in for park land with a combination of brook, high and low
land. We have an ice skating rink which is lighted in the Peltzer
Park. We have equipment in Brookview Park with swings, picnic
tables and burner. We have some equipment which we have acquired
for free from the Minneapolis Park Board. Our Park Board has
asked residents in the areas where we have parks to help plan
and work for these parks. We want to thank Mr. Hubbard for the
free playground equipment and thank the residents living around
Peltzer's Park for the work they have done in building the benches,
painting them and in keeping the skating rink cleaned off this
winter.

It was recommended by Mr. Murphy that we pay police $5.75 per
hour. Mr. Peterson stated mileage for the Town Board was 10~
per mile. Mr. Robert Lea moved we accept these figures. Seconded
by Mr. Coe. Motion carried.

Mr. Hopperstad explained about the 15 minute broadcast on KANO
each Friday at 12:~5 p.m.

Someone asked about inspection on new homes. The gas company
inspects the gas furnaces. He thinks they should be inspected for
safety. Mr. Pittman answered that North Central Public Gas Co.
inspects all furnaces before they are hooked up to the gas.
