PUBLIC HEARING ON SUNFISH LAKE BLVD. REBUILDING
March ~, 197~

The hearing was called to order by the Town Board Chairman, Mr.
Murphy at 7:00 p.m. Present were Mr. Cox and Mr. Peterson,
Clerk.

Mr. Murphy explained the reason for this hearing. He said that
people living on this road have been complaining for a long time
about the condition of this road. One reason for the bad condi-
tion of this road is the garbage trucks which use this road con-
tinuously on the way to the Anoka landfill. In order for this
road to become a state aid road, it has to be built to state
standards which is 120 feet in width which would also give room
for bicycles, etc. to use the sides of the road. This road will
cost the County between $80,000 and $1OO,OOO. It will be a two
year program. The state allows 22,000 pounds per axle on County
roads and this is about what the garbage trucks weigh. The state
legislature is allocating $1,500,0OO for landfill and recycling
studies. We have four landfills in Anoka County, according to
Mr Fields, County Commissioner, and ov~ 50~ of the waste taken

Mr. Cox explained the map of the proposed rebuilding of this high-
way to those present.

Mr. Lundheim discussed the map and answered questions from the
audience with reference to this project.

Ralph Dickenson of Dickenson Bus Lines is located on Highway No.
57 between Highway 10 and the point at which Industry Blvd. joins
No. 57. He stated there is no building on the east side of the
road in this stretch but that on the west side there is a tool and
die plant, the bus company, a couple of homes and Greenberg Ram-
bler. He said he thought it would make much more sense to take
the additional land needed for this road from the east side of
this street rather than to bring it up near the front door of
the garage and take their paved parking area for buses. It will
bring it right up to the front of the Mate Punch Co. It would
also take part of the houses and cover the gas tanks at Greenberg
Rambler. Mr. Lundheim said he would like to review this with some
of his staff. Mr. Sundquist of Mate Punch Die & Tool Co. was pre-
sent. He said this proposed road would cover a new $25,000 cess-
pool which they had just had put in when the new addition to their
building was put up. He said he thought they should have some
compassion on the people who live south of them along this road.
The new right-of-way would come within 5½ feet of their front
door. He thinks it would make sense to move it to the east side
of the road.

Tim Miller: Lives in first house next to the railroad tracks.
He said he feels the same way as Mr. Dickenson and Mr. Sundquist.

Cliff Fournier: He asked why not leave the road like it is and
just resurface it. Mr. Cox replied by saying that the Tov~ship
