REGULAR MEETING OF RAMSEY TO~ BOARD

September 17, 1973

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mr. Murphy at
8:00 p.m. Present were Mr. Cox, Mr. Hopperstad, Mr. Peterson,
Clerk, and the attorney, Mr. Goodrich.

The minutes of the last stated meeting were read by the Chairman,
Mr. Murphy. Mr. Cox moved the minutes be accepted as read. It
was seconded by Mr. Hopperstad. Motion carried.

The minutes of the last stated Planning and Zoning meeting were
read by Mr. Reimann.

The Treasurer's report was read by Mr. Hopperstad.

Mr. Menkveld reported that there is so much vandalism by children
and that his fences have been cut four times and that he hopes
something can be done about it. Mr. Cox said that the people should
get together and organize self help in the areas of police protec-
tion and development of parks. The last Newsletter requested that
people be on the lookout for unauthorized cars in neighborhoods and
any other questionable occurances. He also suggested we get to-
gether a booklet to give to new residents with their occupancy per-
mit stating what would be expected of them and their children when
they moved into our community. He said people who want to move
into country communities should realize that there is not going to
be someone to hold their hand at all times and that people should
learn to be self reliant. Also if they want a park program they
should be willing to help build the parks and keep them up. He
said we should all get our heads out of the sand, get together and
get the job done. It is a fine community so let's keep it that
way.

Mr. Hopperstad was invited to go to Chisago City to speak to them
about the development of a community because they had heard such
good things about the job being done in Ramsey.

Because of the action that An.oka took two commissioner's meetings
ago when they stated they would like to annex Ramsey Township up
to 149th Avenue, which would include about four square miles of
our industrial and commercial area, we would like to send an opin-
ion survey to all homeowners in Ramsey and would like to have them
respond to this survey within one week. There are some members of
the Anoka Commission who do not go along with the above stated
policy of Anoka. Anoka has 135 full time employees for 1~,O00 res-
idents and Ramsey Township has two full time employees. The Board
agreed to send out the opinion survey.

Mr. Murphy stated they had a meeting with Mr. Gary Anderson of NSP
and that they will put in steel poles up to one mile from our north-
western boundary and that from this point on it will be in swamp
land. They will not require any more land for easements than they
already have. There will be a public hearing on this matter by the
