REGULAR MEETING RAMSEY TO~fN BOARD
July 16, 1973

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by the Chairman,
Mr. Murphy. Present were Mr. Cox, Mr. Hopperstad, Mr. Peterson,
Mr. Roger Gorham and Mr. Goodrich.

Minutes of the last stated meeting were summarized by the Chair-
man. Correction: Eliminate the words"in addition to what he is
now receiving", at the bottom of page 3. Mr. Cox moved the min-
utes be accepted with this correction. Seconded by Mr. Hopper-
stad. Motion carried.

The minutes of the Planning and Zoning Commission were read by
Mr. Reimann, the Chairman.

Mr. Murphy read the census figures from the Metro Council "Data-
log" of June 29, 1973 in which the figures for Ramsey Township
were: 1970 - 2,727, 1972 - 3,567 and 1973 estimated for April 1,
6,133. We have written the Washington Census Bureau requesting
a definite census that we can use in revenue sharing. We would
have received about twice as much in revenue sharing funds if our
census had been correctly used. We have passed up about $60,000
in road funds because we were not given village status. This also
is true of Grow Township.

Mr. Gorham gave the Treasurer's report.

Mr. Cox said many people had commented to him about the fine air
show we had in the Township on July lith and 15th and how nice the
people were who were handling the show and also attending the show.
tie suggested the Board write to the Rangers Association expressing
our appreciation for the fine show and the fine work they had done.

Mr. Les-Meyer will .be representing Federal Cartridge from here on
in place of Mr. Hagel who will be retiring in a few days. Mr. Hagel
gave a report on the gun club. He stated Mr. Ehlen felt that the
schedule they had sent us was quite reasonable and saw no reason
for anyone to complain. He said he felt it was good to have this
type of activity in the area. He said they employed about 20 young
men. Mr. Cox said this was fine but that it was also true that
they were receiving this help at a iow pay scale. Mr. Hagel said
they felt that screening would be prohibitive in cost. Mr. Cox
said he did not think it would be necessary to have very expensive
trees but felt they could use willows or poplar; that they are fast
growing and would provide good screening. He asked if the gun club
was interested in remaining in this area. Mr. Hagel replied that
they were. Mr. Cox asked if they had a gate. Mr. Hagel said they
would try to see to it that no one would come in to shoot earlier
or later than scheduled. Both Mr. Hagel and Mr. Cox felt that they
could get together on trees that would make good screening and be
decorative also. Mr. Cox asked that they present us with a sketch
plan of what they intend to do and what type of trees they would be
planting. Mr. Hagel said they would have the plan here by the next
meeting.
