- 2 - <br /> <br />Mr. ~i~iert ~,'~atson of the Anoka City Council was present. He intro- <br />duced i,.ir. William K. i.'~cKie of McKie & Associates, Inc. and Mr. <br />Ray Kellis of the firm that is handling the du_~p in Ramsey Town- <br />ship at the present time. Mr. McKie sta~ed they were developing <br />pla-~s for the landfill operation and showed maps of three stages <br />in its operation eventually becoming a skiing area in 1996 with <br />a height of 102~ feet. He said they were now taking care of the <br />paper blowing around the area. Mr. ~e!lis said they had spent <br />~,i700 to get the debris picked up. Mr. Westphal stated it looked <br />very ragged at the back of the landfill at this time. Mr. [~urphy <br />asked them ii' they were going to put in trees arot~md the landfill <br />and Mr. Kellis replied they hoped to do something like this. Mr. <br />f?~cs, rborougy stated the To~n Road had a four ton load limit and the <br />trucks hauling over it now weighed o-¢er 10 ton and he asked what <br />they planned 'to do about it. Mr. Kellis said this would have to <br />be worked out with the City of Anoka and Ramsey Township. .!'~ ques- <br />tior~ was asked as to why their charges were not always the same <br />for the same size load and could not Ramsey Township residents <br />get a better deal. He stated cars and pickups may feel they are <br />being abused but that there was not as rauch money in this business <br />as some people thought and that it costs a great deal to have the <br />personnel to run this operation. It was decided the Town Board <br />woul~ have to sit down with the Anoka City Co~aission and the Ram- <br />soy Tow'~ Board to draw' up the restrictions under which this dump <br />or landfill will be operated. Mr. Scarborough moved that the Anoka <br />City Com~'~ission and the Ramsey To~m Board draw up a responsibility <br />contract. [~econded by Mr. Murphy. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Carol Gower requested permission to operate a day care school. <br />~She will have remedial reading or pre-school reading for pre- <br />school children, possibly 5 or 6 at a time. It would be a small <br />]_earning school for five year olds. She is in a residential area. <br />It was suggested she go to the next Planning and Zoning Co:~m-~.ission <br />meeting on August 9th. Her address is 9138 Collins Drive <br />~;he has been to see Mrs. McDonald of tho Welfare Dept, in Anoka. <br /> <br />Fire Contract with ~lk River: Mr. Peterson had contacted the Elk <br />River ?ire iDepartment as to why 'their charge was so high. They <br />stated the quotation had been wrong and that their charge would <br />be ~::,2/$0.00 for 12~ of the valuation of the Township. Mr. Cox <br />moved ~,~e stay with the Anoka Fire Dept. contract. Seconded by Mr. <br />Scarborough. Motion carried. <br /> <br />i.~[r, i~unt is in ?ontana and will not be about to inspect weeds. <br />This job is now open. It pays .%,~300.00 per year. Mr. Peterson <br />had a call from the ~Jotuaty about weed inspecting. <br /> <br />~,'iz~.
