She served a four- <br />year term on the Lakeville, Minnesota, City Council, where she introduced and <br />implemented date processing, Planned Programmed Budgeting, a city debt service <br />analysis, Management by Objectives, a community needs assessment, an updated <br />comprehensive land use plan and floodplain management. <br /> <br />She served as an elected officer on the national Board of Directors of the <br />23,000 member American Planning Association for three years, chaired the <br />Governance Committee, and is currently chair of the Computer Fair Committee <br />for the 1984 nations] conference. She is Past President of the Minnesota <br />Plannin9 Association. Ms. Curry chaired the League of Minnesota Cities Land <br />Use Co~ittee and served on the League's Budget and Finance Co~ittee working <br />on Local Government Aid formula revision. <br /> <br />She was appointed by the District Court, serving as Budget Chair on the Dakota <br />Ceunty Government Study Commission to recommend policies for improving manage- <br />ment and productivity in the fastest 9rowing suburban county in Minnesota. <br />She also served as Action Chair, Council for Metropolitan Area Leagues of <br />e~ Voters. <br /> <br />Professionally, Ms. Curry's special interest is the facilitation of change, <br />strategic planning and organizational development. Her management experience <br />includes Executive Director of s non-profit social service agency followin9 an <br />early career in social science research for a private foundation and in social <br />work for the State of Minnesota Department of Corrections and Hennepin County. <br />As an independent organizational development consultant, she assisted small <br />businesses with strategic business plannin9 for new venture development. <br /> <br />As Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Metropolitan Council of the seven- <br />county Twin Cities Region, Ms. Curry introduced Quality Circles Management, <br />developed a corporate outreach program to encourage public-private partner- <br />ships between the Council and Fortune 500 corporations. She led a strategic <br />planning effort amon9 middle managers to identify emergin9 regional issues, <br />staffed the Governor's Rideshare Advisory Commission and organized the <br />Metropolitan Rideshare Board, a public-private consortium. <br /> <br />Ms. Curry received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the Universi- <br />ty of Minnesota. Subsequent training includes graduate studies in business <br />management from the University of Minnesota and the College of St. Thomas. <br />Her professional affiliations include the North American Society of Corporate <br />Planners, American Plsnnin9 Association, and Urban and Regional Information <br />Services Association. <br /> <br />A frequent seminar trainer for the University of Minnesota Department of Con- <br />tinuing Education end Government Training Service, Hs.
