All recommendations will be
considered, and are welcome.

3) The Office of State Auditor will publish position papers
dealing wit~ the accounting and reporting treatment for
specific issues.

We realize that implementing uniform accounting and financial
reporting throughout the local governmental system is a tremendous
'task. Lt will require the time and effort of all organizations
concerned. However, the importance of uniformity demands that
the effort be made. We believe the benefits will far outweigh
the cost of achieving uniformity. The cooperation of municipal
finance directors is very much appreciated by this Office.
Please feel free to call the Governmental Information Division at
(612) 297-3683 if you have any questions or concerns.

3
