even if some of these businesses wanted to come to Ramsey they would not have enough land
for them, and many of these businesses do not make their decisions this way. Member
Gromberg suggested staff look at the surromqding area on a bigger scale than the Economic
Development Consultant did and look at the ideal candidates that are looking to expand and
grow. He indicated he would include the following companies in the distribution list:

· Top 25 List - Fastest Growing Small Public Companies
· Top List- Franchisors - metro area
· Top 25 Medical Device Manufacturers

Member Gromberg suggested staff also look into the following types of companies for
distribution:

· Real estate developers
· NAIOP
· Commercial contractors

Member Gromberg stated the type of company that is making one million dollars and wants to
grow to five million dollars, and is utilizing 10,000 square feet and wants to grow to 25,000
square feet, is the type of company the City should be looking for.

Ms. Wald indicated staff will compile the list based on this direction and send both marketing
pieces to these businesses.

Case #4: Business Spotlight

Ms. Wald informed the EDA the business newsletter spotlights a business in each issue. The
business spotlight is intended to inform the business community about different businesses
located in Ramsey and also to allow the featured business the opportunity to tell their story; what
they do, how they became established, and any involvement they may have in the City.
Businesses that have been featured in past publications include Seat Yourself Inc., Sauter and
Sons, Superior Striping, and Panther Precision.

Ms. Wald explained QCTV will be working with staff to highlight these businesses, and the
spotlights will be advertised in the Business Connection. Staff would like to obtain input from
the EDA regarding what businesses to spotlight in the future. She explained staff's ideas include
the following:

Life Fitness
· VisionEase Lens
· Diamonds Sports Bar (2003 Business of the Year)
· Canvas Craft
· HiTech Motors
· Connexus Energy

Economic Development Authority/February 9, 2004
Page 10 of 13
