Member Kurak suggested a large company such as Life Fitness or Connexus Energy be chosen,
as smaller businesses have already been highlighted. She noted Cormexus Energy is a staple of
the community.

Member Gromberg suggested there be a concentration on manufacturing, which is an important
part of the community that is often forgotten.

Chairperson Riley stated all businesses should be included, with manufacturing not to be
forgotten.

Ms. Wald explained she talked to Pete Turok of the Anoka Chamber of Commerce to get more
ideas about connecting to the City's businesses. One of the things the Anoka Chamber of
Commerce does is to ask if businesses want to write a story about themselves. The story is put
into the Anoka Chamber of Commerce publication. Ms. Wald suggested Ramsey do this as well,
with one completed by the City and one by a business.

Member Steffen commented this is a good idea if it is advertised properly.

Member LeToumeau commented this can be done two times per year with the Anoka Chamber
of Commerce and the service is rarely used. He suggested staff use the business mailing and
send out a letter to the businesses.

Member Kurak inquired how often this will be done with QCTV.

Ms. Wald replied a Business Spotlight will be done every two months with QCTV and the
Business Connection.

Member Kurak suggested Life Fitness and Diamonds be highlighted in the Business Com~ection.

Case #5: Redevelopment of the 2002 CDBG

Mr. Sullivan informed the EDA Staff completed the acquisition of both the Chies and Morrell
properties in late 2003. The terms of the grant state that the property must be cleared of the
existing blight on the properties within one year of acquisition in order to facilitate
redevelopment. Staff has completed a pre-demolition survey for the Morrell building and is
ready to take bids for the demolition and "clean-up" of both the Chies and Morrell parcels. Staff
has had many inquiries on the availability of these one acre parcels and feels it would be
imperative to have these properties available for development this Spring.

Mr. Sullivan explained staff recommends that the EDA recommend to the City Council to
continue to proceed with the CDBG process and commence demolition, blight removal and site
preparation for both the Chies and Morrell properties. Staff is looking for direction from the
EDA.

Economic Development Authority/February 9, 2004
Page 11 of 13
