Asst. Nereson read a memo he wrote regarding planni.ng projects within the
City of Ramsey.

Municipal Consultant, Mr. Steffen gave a brief overview of the comments the
Metro Council staff has made toward the Ramsey Urban Plan.

METRO COUNCIL CRITIQUE SAYS:

MR. STEFFENS COMMENTS

a) Urban plan is inconsistent with a)
some Met. Council projections, i.e.,
sewer, transportation, population

Ramsey plan not always inconsistent
since some circumstances have changed
and Ramsey never has agreed with
Met. Council population projections,
but has no success in getting figures
revised.

b) plan assumes construction of Rum b)
River bridge by 1978, which is not
true

that date was never used in the plan,
however, even considering the bridge
is ten years away now is the time
for Ramsey to plan for it.

c) City has assumed too much land area
for the Urban Service District

c)

their figures are not consistent,
however, if it is too large simply
pull it back.

d)

plan does not deal with development
outside of the Urban Service area,
Urban Service area should be considered
in other locations within the City.

This plan was established in confor-
mance with Met. Council policy of
Urbanization contiguous with present
free standing Urban areas. It is
admitted additional planning is needed
outside the Urban area.
