December 9, 1976 <br />Special Meeting - Council (4) <br /> <br />Mayor Cox replied yes it has been thought about and reviewed considerably both <br />pro and con. <br /> <br />Tom Gamec said he feels the southeast corner should be the urban service areas <br />and he is in favor of going to five acres in the transitional area. He feels <br />we should go with our original plan. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said he is primarily interested in preserving a commercial area to <br />help support the sewer. A good sound tax base for the community in the future <br />years. <br /> <br />Discussion followed. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said the City doesn't need any residential development, we need commercial. <br />P & Z and Council have to realize how much of a job they have to do. The City <br />cannot afford to get locked into a position to put itsel~ in a financial condition <br />for the future. It has to be guarded against extremely careful. The community <br />is no longer rural and it did not happen contiguous to Anoka. We have to have <br />the tax base. He asked if someone wanted to tell all the people who own land <br />there that they will never receive anything from it. He said he is in favor of <br />having a 2½ acre minimum lot size in the Transitional Area and 5 to 10 or whatever, <br />is consistent with' Burns in the Rural area. <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson asked for permission to work on obtaining grant monies for planning. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox directed that he proceed in that area. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox directed this item, the question of minimum lot sizes, to be placed <br />on December 13, Agenda for a vote. He said consideration should be given to <br />platting of smaller subdivisions possibly with a separate platting~ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox directed Mr. Nereson to set an evening meeting with Met.
