-5- <br /> <br />Council Meeting <br /> <br />Fire Arms Ordinance 73-1~. Chief Auspos gave a report on the <br />range of travel of a 12 gauge slug. He said he would prefer to have <br />the ordinance read no discharging of slugs in the City, but he is <br />leaving it to Council distretion. He stated the ordinance is difficult <br />to enforce as it presently reads because of ambiguities as to whose <br />property persons are on and how far they are from the ~0 acre boundary. <br /> <br />General discussion by Council ensued as to the safety and welfare <br />of residents and also the fact that there are many land o~mers who <br />have purchased larger parcels of land for the rural environment. <br /> <br />Motion by Reimann, seconded by Gorham to table action on this <br />ordinance until some input is received from land owners of larger <br />parcels of property. <br /> Carried 5 - 0 <br />County tIealth Priorities. Councilman Reimann suggested the City <br />request input from the citizens on human service needs via the <br />newsletter. <br /> <br />Councilman Gorham presented a list of items he felt were priorities <br />for the City of Ramsey. 1. development and improvement of arterial <br />streets within the community, a bridge across the Rum river for <br />safer route for busing of students to Anoka Senior High and to <br />facilitate easier travel to the City of Andover, 2. expansion of <br />library and cultural facilities, 3. expansion of recreational <br />and athletic facilities, possibly a joint venture of the communities <br />of Ramsey, Anoka and Andover with some funding from the County. <br /> <br />Newsletter information. Administrator Walker commented that we are <br />coming forth with a newsletter along ~th the community education <br />pro~ram printed by the school district on a share cost basis. <br /> <br />The brochure and newsletter will be mailed out the middle of <br />January. The midwest corner of the City in Elk River school <br />district will be added to the mailing list. <br /> <br />IBM typewriter. Administrator Walker requested authorization <br />to purchase a new IBM typewriter for $675.00 with an additional <br />$1~.OO for a larger carriage which would be useful for typing <br />financial reports etc. <br /> <br />Motion by Gorham, seconded by Mickelson to purchase an IBM <br />Selectric II typewriter for $693.00. <br /> Carried 5 - O <br /> <br />Bills for approyal.
