Mrs. Oliphant indicated that the <br />person who was hired as administrative assistant would be the key to the <br />staf:fJn/,~ problem and that if the right type person were hired then perhaps <br />the a!J.F, nmcnt as indicated by ~r. Gotham would work~ <br /> <br />~Ir. ?,licke]son .stated that we went from a part time secretary position <br />to two 'Full time secretaries but yet the work load is ~oo much~ <br />~'lr. I~';ckelson also indicated that it appeared tha~ Donna Netso~. had <br />become ?.'ir. Thuston's full time secretary. ~{r. Reimann and ~r. Cox discussed the lack of a leadership at the City Hall and the need <br />for :~ coord:inator to assure that day'-~o-day work activity is ac. complished <br />in a most ef['JcJ, ent means. He stated thai when Mr, Steffen wa~ <br />orJgJ~ta]~ly h:ired it was the intent to phase him out within a year and <br />to bJrc a ?;1;af~ administrator. Mr. Cox said that even if Mr. Steffen <br />is ph:~sed out~ he could s'~ilt be used for ~op priority mat~ers on a <br />job--by--job basis. He also stated 'chat decisions now need ~o be made for <br />the ~o~g run~ not just the next six months. <br /> <br /> Mro Cox a]~;o stated that the City's expenses have doubled but yet we are <br /> ~ot get~.~ng matching revenue. Mrs. Oliphan~ asked Mr, Cox what his <br /> posJt~ion is on the staffing solution. He indicated tha~ we needed an <br />'administrative assistant who could also act as a playground coordinator~ <br /> a ].JcensJnfl officer and this person could also be the clerk/%reasurer, <br /> Mrs. O.~Jpbant then asked ~'lr. Steffen is also needed <br /> to med irtte tl~e Council and the political views of the various councilmen. <br /> ~,~r. i;orl~am ;~reed t0ut stated that we are spending in excess of $4.5,000 <br /> and yet tt~o job Js not getting done.
