The estimated construction costs (to be considered by Council in 2016) are $1,264,772. The Federally funded <br />portion of this amount at 80% reimbursement would be $868,120. The city's share would be $396,652, to be <br />addressed by the Park Trust Fund. <br />The Plans and Specifications will be prepared with various add/alternates including trees, benches, and trash <br />receptacles, such that upon receiving bids, City Council may decide the scope of the trail project to best take <br />advantage of the 80% Federal funding, while determining what the landscape/streetscape looks like alongside the <br />trail in the vicinity of Riverdale Drive and Llama Street west of the Armstrong Interchange. <br />Funding Source: <br />Estimated construction costs for Phase II or the Final Phase of the Mississippi River Trail is $1,264,772, (to be <br />considered by City Council in 2016). Consulting engineering costs (2015-16) are estimated at $253, 694. <br />Construction costs would be reimbursed at 80% or an estimated $868,120. The Park Trust Fund is recommended to <br />address the estimated balance of $369,652. <br />This case only authorizes consulting engineering in a not -to -exceed amount of $120,643. This work is not <br />reimbursable using awarded grant funds, and would be paid for by the Park Trust Fund. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends extending the agreement with Bolton & Menk for the Mississippi River Trail project for the <br />scope of work described herein. <br />Action: <br />Motion to approve/deny a not -to -exceed amount of $120,643 from the Park Trust Fund, for Bolton & Menk to <br />prepare Plans and Specifications, and solicit bids for the Mississippi River Trail from the Armstrong Interchange to <br />city limits, west of the Wayside Rest Area. <br />Attachments <br />Location map <br />Timeline <br />Phase II Engineering <br />Scope and Eng.
