Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, Kurak, Strommen, and Zimmem'mn. Voting No: None. Case #3: Public Hearing to Adopt an Ordinance Amending the Method for Calcnlating the Rate for Townhomes in the Storm Drainage Utility Mayor Gamec closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:52 p.m. in order to conduct a public hearing. Public ltearing Presentation Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained the ordinance before the Council was introduced at the last Council meeting and would change the method of billing for townhouses in the storm drainage utility. The ordinance also clears up past issues regarding the direction given to staff tbr single family properties with a business on the site. These properties will be charged ½ the residential rate and ½ the business rate until such time as the business is no longer active on tho site, at which time the rate shall be the standard single-family residential rate. Citizen Input There was ilOllC. Motion by Councihnember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to close the public hearing. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Strommen, Cook, Kurak, Pearson, and Zimmennan. The public hearing was closed at 7:53 p.m. Council Business Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:53 p.m. Councilmcmbcr Zimmerman asked if the eight unit townhomes would have the same cost as a single Family unit. Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied the eight unit townhomes would not have the same unit cost as single family unit; they would have the same unit cost as eight single family homos. Councihncmber Zimmerman noted an eight unit townhome would have much more square lbotagc in impervious surface than a single family home. City Council/April 27, 2004 Page 11 of 35
