Norman, City Administrator

Background:

A Northwest River Crossing Study was completed recently that establishes a
transportation con'idor with a future bridge crossing over the Mississippi River south to
Interstate #94 in Maple Grove. While this corridor has been identified in a Scoping
Document, the official mapping process has yet to begin. The City Council will recall
that an official mapping process has recently been completed for the Highway #10
Corridor.

Staff has learned in recent weeks that development pressures along the proposed
northwest river crossing corridor are significantly on the increase. Staff would be willing
to discuss development interests with the Council.

Staff would like to discuss the need to continue working with transportation consultants
to develop a formal transportation corridor along the proposed Bunker Lake Boulevm'd
and possible Highway #169 in preparation for an official mapping designation.

Action Statement:

Direct staff to bring forth a transportation consultcmt proposal for Bunker Lake
Boulevard and High way #169 transportation corridor study.

CCWS: 05/04/04
