Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Case #6: Request for Maintenance of Private Street <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson reviewed that this case is regarding a request from Rum <br />River Hills to take over the private street that services their subdivision. The primary question <br />that was listed by the association was approximately how much each homeowner would be <br />assessed for a street improvement project if the City required the street to be upgraded to City <br />standards. It is difficult to estimate the cost of construction on this street since staff is aware that <br />there may be some soil issues with this particular roadway. Staff recommends that a soil boring <br />be completed to determine an appropriate depth of road to bring this section up to City code. <br />This recommendation comes at a cost of $400 pursuant to discussions with Northern <br />Technologies, Inc. who would perform this service. Staff had a discussion with Ms. Jan <br />Miskowic and have asked for this cost to be reimbursed by the association. She plans on <br />discussing it with their Board and writing a letter, if approved, agreeing to the expense <br />reimbursement and allowing the work to be done on private property. <br /> <br />Motion to recommend to the City Council to hire Northern Technologies at a not to exceed cost <br />of $400 contingent upon the Rum River Hills Townhouse Association issuing a letter agreeing to <br />the reimbursement and allowing the soil boring to be done on their private property. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Assistant Public Works Director <br /> <br />CC: 05/11/04 <br /> <br /> <br />
