AUTHORIZE CONTINUATION OF TRANSPORTATION CONSULTING SERVICES <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey made contractual arrangements with The Tinklenberg Group beginning in <br />January 2003. The City has extended the contractual arrangements and has utilized The <br />Tinklenberg Group's services for the recent completion of the Highway #10 Corridor Official <br />Mapping process. <br /> <br />Staff discussed the need for continuation of transportation services with The Tinldenberg Group <br />at a recent Council work session for a variety of services, with particular focus on the areas of <br />TH #47, the Mississippi River Crossing and development of a transportation policy. Staff has <br />requested and received a proposal for continuation of transportation consulting services from The <br />Tinklenberg Group for Council consideration. A proposal is attached for Council review. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Proposals for services provided by The Tinklenberg Group include tasks that are itemized into <br />four separate categories. The total cost for all four tasks included in the proposal total $45,000. <br />Because of budgetary constraints, staff would recommend eliminating the TH #47 task fi'om the <br />group of projects and limit The Tinklenberg Group focus to the general tasks, river crossing and <br />transportation policy portion of the proposal, totaling $22,000. Funding would be derived from <br />the Council Contingency Fund. <br /> <br />Staff has been pleased with the working relationship with The Tinklenberg Group and believes <br />that transportation consulting services will continue to be a necessity for the City of Ramsey. <br />Staff will recommend continuation of these consulting services and will begin making budget <br />considerations in the 2005 proposed budget for an annual line item for transportation consultant <br />services. Staff intends to make a proposal in the future that a retainer contract can be issued to <br />The Tinklenberg Group, or other transportation consulting services. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to authorize the City Administrator to enter into contractual alxcangements for <br />continuation of transportation consulting services with The Tinklenberg Group in an amount not <br />to exceed $23,000. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 05/11/04 <br /> <br /> <br />
