PUBLIC HEARING <br /> City of Ramsey <br /> Anoka County <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Ramsey City Council held a <br />public hearing regarding the Street Improvement, t58th & 159th Lane and <br />Kamacite Street N.W. on May 13, 1980, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilman Sorteberg <br />Councilman Reimann <br />Councilman Cox <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilman Mickelson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka <br />City Attorney Goodrich <br />City Administrator Schnelle <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka showed an exhibit of the streets to be improved. He <br />said the total cost of $39,375 included grading. Class V gravel, restoration <br />and bituminous surfacing. He said the assessment would be on a unit basis <br />and the total unit cost would be $1,514.42 for a period of 10 years which would <br />amount to $246.48 annually per unit. He said the unit on the corner of 158th Lane <br />and Ramsey Blvd. is divided into two units. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the soonest a sewer would come in would be 15 to 20 years and <br />possibly longer in that area. He said the street thickness proposed is the <br />standard thickness used throughout the city. He said in regards to the septic <br />systems to watch them closely and don't abuse them. Garbage disposals, dishwashers, <br />disposable-type diapers and colored toilet tissue cause problems. He recommended <br />a product called Ridex which is good for putting in septic systems. He said that <br />if a system is working properly, it shouldn't need to be pumped. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked for questions from the audience. <br /> <br />Darrell Krueger, 15828 Ramsey Blvd. N.W., who lives on the corner unit to be <br />assessed two units, said he didn't use the road in question. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka said anyone on a major thoroughfare is assessed. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the time this issue would be decided would be at the <br />Assessment Hearing. He told Mr. Krueger that he would be notified of the <br />Assessment Hearing. <br /> <br />Douglas Hammond, 7147 - 159th Lane N.W., stated he was against the project. <br />He asked why the school bus wasn't turning around on his road. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec directed City Administrator Schnelle to contact the bus company <br />and find out if the school bus could turn around on his road. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />May 13, 1980 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
