Mayor Gamec said there are three committees in the Metropolitan Association of Cities which he felt someone from Ramsey should be on, preferably a councilman. He said the smaller outlying communities are more involved in the association than the bigger ones. He said the association is looking right now for members for their Board of Directors, but he felt it is more important that Ramsey has people on the committees. He said this issue will come up again in the fall and last year there were 23 meeting within four months. He said the city is also on the National League of Cities policy-making committee in regards to Finance. Councilman Cox said he felt there is no way the members of the City Council can go and keep up with these committees because they are all working councilmen. Mayor Gamec said being on the committees is time-consuming and in the past there were 23 meetings in four months. Discussion was held on getting involved in the committees. Mayor Gamec said both the Jaycee Women and Men in Ramsey have worked on cleanup, blood mobile and a lot of different projects. He recommended adopting a resolution thanking them for their help to the city to be read at their appreciation night. Motion by Councilman Reimann to adopt a resolution of.appreciation to the Jaycee Women for their outstanding service to the citizens of the City of Ramsey and a resolution of appreciation to the Jaycees for their outstanding contribution to community service. Motion seconded by Councilman Sorteberg. Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None. Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Cox to adjourn the special council meeting. Motion carried, voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann Mickelson and Cox.
