Mayor Gamec said there are three committees in the Metropolitan Association <br />of Cities which he felt someone from Ramsey should be on, preferably a <br />councilman. He said the smaller outlying communities are more involved in <br />the association than the bigger ones. He said the association is looking <br />right now for members for their Board of Directors, but he felt it is more <br />important that Ramsey has people on the committees. He said this issue <br />will come up again in the fall and last year there were 23 meeting within <br />four months. He said the city is also on the National League of Cities <br />policy-making committee in regards to Finance. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he felt there is no way the members of the City Council <br />can go and keep up with these committees because they are all working <br />councilmen. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said being on the committees is time-consuming and in the past <br />there were 23 meetings in four months. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on getting involved in the committees. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said both the Jaycee Women and Men in Ramsey have worked on <br />cleanup, blood mobile and a lot of different projects. He recommended <br />adopting a resolution thanking them for their help to the city to be <br />read at their appreciation night. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Reimann to adopt a resolution of.appreciation to the <br />Jaycee Women for their outstanding service to the citizens of the City <br />of Ramsey and a resolution of appreciation to the Jaycees for their <br />outstanding contribution to community service. Motion seconded by <br />Councilman Sorteberg. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann <br />Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Cox to <br />adjourn the special council meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried, voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann <br />Mickelson and Cox.
