Mayor Gamec said everyone knows that there is ponding areas out there and he <br />didn't think that it was necessary that they be there. <br /> <br />'Mr. Arvin Hansmann, 14951 Garnet St. N.W. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansmann said he was on vacation for two weeks and when he came back he <br />was informed of the pmoblem, so On Sunday, he took a walk up to the landfill <br />and he observed ponding areas there then and foum days later, they were still <br />there. <br /> <br />County Administrator Ralph McGinley said the place to call is the County <br />regarding the methane gas problem and Bob'Hutchlnsonwill serve as local contact. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said he felt the residents should call City Administrator Schnelle <br />at City Hall regarding this issue and then he would contact the County. <br /> <br />Ms. Van Wagner said she didn't see how anyone can do all these things to a <br />property not owning it. She said she was tired of calling agencies. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he agreed with Ms. Van Wagner. <br /> <br />Ms. Marilyn Gallaghem~.'6905'z'151St-Avenue'N~W. <br /> <br />Ms. Gallagher said in July they first called the PCA and then they called <br />Bob Hutchinson and didn't get any cooperation from him at that time. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec told the residents if they notice a problem to get a hold of <br />City Administrator Schnelle and he would contact the proper agency and get <br />an answer from them about what is going to be done $ when and then he would <br />get back to the residents on it. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann recommended setting up a meeting for two weeks when the <br />State and County might have some answers. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if Septembem 15, 1980 at 7:30 P.M. would be agreeable <br />to everyone for this meeting and all agreed. <br /> <br />Ms. Van Wagner said they had asked for leechage testing and nothing had been <br />done and she asked what they would have to do to get this done. <br /> <br />Ms. Ritchie, Public Health Department, said she believed the Health Department <br />would do the testing. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec summarized some of the actions that would be taken such as <br />finding out what the real explosive level of methane is, what the effects <br />methane has on plantings and trees, why'the trees died and if gas vents <br />through trees and plants and Waste Management's plans to set up monitoring <br />devices and probes in the homes. He said the city doesn't plan on adding <br />any staff at the city. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Reimann to adopt Resolution <br />#80-75 Regarding the Anoka'Landfill Located in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br />Voting no-None. <br /> <br />Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann and Cox. <br />Please refer to resolution'file for'Resolution #80-75. <br /> <br />Special Council <br />August 15, 1980 <br /> Page 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
