CITIZEN INPUT

Ms. Roselia Jacobson~ 17601 Marmoset St. N.W.

Ms. Jacobson presented to the council a petition for street improvements in
Countryside Estates. She said 36 people signed the petition and 29 signed for
tarvia surfacing.

Mayor Gamec said the city had technically cut off any street improvements
this year, but will try to get it in this year anyhow because of cost increases
that will occur next year.

Mayor Gamec instructed that this issue be placed under "New Business" on
the agenda.

Mr. Dennis Hanson, 15700 Dolomite Ave. N.W.

Mr. Hanson presented to the council a petition requesting that the city
buiiding code for minimum square footage per building per single dwelling
prior to June 1980 be reinstated. The petition was signed by 16 persons.

Mayor Gamec said the petition would have to be put on the next agenda for
September 8, 1980, Regular Council Meeting.

Councilman Cox said he thought it would be appropriate to put it on the next
agenda because of the P & Z Commission's reservations on this issue. He
said one of the things it questioned was the garage requirement.

City Administrator Schnelle said this issue originally came ~out o~ the
Economic Development Sub-Committee~and he felt that group and the P & Z
Commission ought to be represented at the meeting when it is discussed.

Councilman Sorteberg suggested the issue be taken up at a special council
meeting.

The council set a date for Tuesday, September 16, 1980 at 7:30 P.M. for a
Special Council Meeting on the minimum square footage requirement for housing
in Ramsey.

Mr. Lawrence Ahlbaum, 6821 - 136th Ave. N.W.

Mr. Ahlbaum said they knew nothing about the changing of the house size
requirement in the city and he asked why they weren't notified of this.

Mayor Gamec replied that an article was written on this by the press
and the city also put out public notices on it.

Mr. Ahlbaum expressed concern regarding the devaluat~n of their homes
when the smaller size houses go up in their area.

Mayor Gamec said he has never seen a case where a house was devalued because
of smaller size houses nearby.

C/August26, 1980
Page 2
